McMan is a non-profit organization established in 1975 and has been operating in Southeast Alberta for over 15 years. We provide care and services to people whose circumstances have placed them at risk or disadvantage and strive to provide support necessary so they can function effectively as members of their communities.

McMan's role, through the establishment of a Foster and Family Resource Centre, is to recruit, screen, and train all new foster homes in the region for the Southeast Alberta Child & Family Services Authority. Programs and services are offered that assist foster parents in the care of children and other parents who have significant struggles with their children.

Mission Statement:

McMan helps individuals and families develop the skills and support to function effectively as members of the community.

Resource Centre Programs and Services
  • provide a lending resource library for parents to access
  • assist with initial training and provide ongoing training opportunities
  • facilitate peer support activities such as mentors and groups
  • advocate for foster parents; assist with the establishment of an active chapter of the Alberta Foster Parent Association
  • promote foster care in the general community through newsletters, special events, foster parent week, and public awareness
Our Goals

On behalf of the Southeast Alberta Child & Family Services Authority, McMan invites people who want to develop their parenting skills to a professional level to help meet a serious need in the community.

Our mutual goal is to return children to their natural families; find other permanent families for them if necessary; or prepare them to live independently, based on the unique situation of each child.

Other Programs McMan Offers:

Youth Work Program:

A program to promote positive development in children and youth who are in foster care or have involvement with the Child and Family Services Authority.

In-Home Family Support Program:

Providing in-home educational and supportive services to families in which the safety and well being of children are considered at risk.

YTA– Youth Transitions to Adulthood Program:

A two-phase program that prepares youth – ages 16-20 – who have involvement with the Children’s Authority, to live independently.
